In June 2018, The Fermain Academy became only the 3rd AP free school nationally to receive ‘Outstanding’ across the board by Ofsted. Following this achievement, the Youth Engagement Schools (YES) Trust has proudly expanded to a multi academy trust and will be opening a brand new SEN free school in September 2020, due to internal progression we are now seeking to appoint a Deputy Headteacher to support the Headteacher in The Fermain Academy’s continued mission to re-engage the dis-engaged and continue to develop our nationally recognised alternative provision.We are unwavering in our ambition to find the right individual to take on this rare opportunity to and help drive our forward thinking and innovative school at the heart of national development.
We are looking to appoint highly motivated Deputy Headteacher with the vision and experience to play a pivotal leadership role. The successful candidate will be someone who shares our commitment to providing personalised education programmes that place each learner at the center of their educational programme. This is a truly unique opportunity for an ambitious, inspirational and talented practitioner to support the Headteacher in continuing our outstanding work and setting up new creative ways of working both within the trust, local authority and wider contexts of education. Reporting directly to the Headteacher, the Deputy Headteacher will have various responsibilities, including but not limited to, the management of teaching and learning and developing positive behaviour support across the school, safeguarding students, evaluating whole school data. This role will suit an experienced senior or middle school leader who will relish the opportunity to contribute to the continuation and
It is likely that the successful applicant will have significant experience as a teacher and leader, within a school or specialist environment with recognised senior leadership qualifications / experience. You will have significant practical experience of working with children and young people who have been disaffected learners and have a full understanding of the factors that may affect their learning. You will be an outstanding and confident teacher, non-judgmental, flexible and creative in your approach. You will be an effective and fair people manager and have a good knowledge of Ofsted regulatory standards and requirements.
